The Groom
Gaurav was an undergraduate at the University of Texas when...
...they met each other for the first time at their best friend Varun's graduation. They quickly hit it off after that, talking with each other for hours and hours every day! The bond between the two of them grew incredibly strong, and they fell in love.
The next 3 years were a whirlwind of life changes for the two of them, but they knew they had each other for support. First jobs, a Rangapravesh, family and friends' weddings, graduations, graduate school, new jobs, and brand new additions to the family.
There was also the flurry of family events - Christmas, New Years Eve, Diwali, birthdays, Rakshabandhan, the Caymans, Garba, Thanksgiving, and more.
After 3 years of dating, Gaurav surprised Radhika with a beach proposal on Galveston Island. What started off as a fun trip to celebrate their 3rd anniversary turned into a memory filled day. Radhika and Gaurav's family hid among the sand dunes as Gaurav proposed, popping out to celebrate with the newly engaged couple!

| Women | A Salwar Kameez in hues of reds, oranges, or yellows is appropriate for this event. A Salwar Kameez that is not too ornate and extremely embellished is appropriate for this occasion. Western Attire: dress or pants and a blouse is appropriate. |

Sangeet night is a colorful event, often known as the pre-reception. Avoid low-cut, hip-hugging, and strapless dresses. |
| Men | Any style of Indian outfits for guys is a great option. Western Attire: A suit or dress pants with a blazer can be worn for this event. Expect to dance! |

Examples of Indian outfits
Lehenga
A long skirt accompanied by a matching blouse and dupatta/odni (long scarf). Women usually wear these because the blouses are typically very elaborate and decorative. The dupatta is used to cover some of the torso, while still exposing the decorative detail of the blouse.
How to wear a lehenga
Salwar Kameez/Anarkali
Popular because they fit any body type and are very easy to wear. The anarkali (long tunic) is worn with loose or tight-fitting pants, known as churidars. A Salwaar Kameez can be worn without a dupatta, but more often than not, women wear a matching dupatta
Saree (Sari)
The most elegant, but also a more difficult outfit to wear. Length of fabric varies from seven to nine meters with different styles of draping the sari (all of the regions in India drape sari slightly differently). The sari blouse typically is less elaborate than that of the lehenga because most of it will usually be covered. However, sari blouses are known as being very versatile in cuts, necklines, and backlines.
